Effect of the waterless preparation and use of a templating agent on textural properties of oxide adsorbents
Binary Al2O3-B2O3 sorbents were produced both In aq. and In waterless (n-butanol) optionally Me(CH2)(15)Me3NBr (CTAB). contg. systems (CTAB-Al ratio 0.01) by converting Al(OCHMe2)(3) with H3BO3 or Al(OCHEtMe)(3) with B(OCHEtMe)(3) at elevated temp. Increase of AcOH. The resulting get was ground, evapd. under vacuum and caled. for 120 min at 500 degrees C and for 180 min at 600 degrees C. The sorbents resulted (Al2O3-B2O3 ratio up to 1) were studied by X-ray diffraction anal., steroomicroscopy and N-2 sorption. The Al2O3 sorbent made In aq. system showed the highest sp. surface (ca. 380 m(2)/g). The sp. surface of the sorbents made In waterless systems Increased with Increasing B content (up to ca. 320 m(2)/g). The addn. of CTAB resulted In decreasing In pore size from more than 20 nm down to less than 8 nm at the Al/B 1:1 ratio.
