초록 | Recently, new methods and processes have been developed for the purification of air and water and attracted the attention of many researches. A photochemical reactionis a process that must be proceeded by absorption of radiation of the appropriatedenergy by one molecule. The most important part in modeling a photochemical reactor isthe accurate prediction of the radiosity field and accurate prediction of the variousmechanisms in the reactor. They are the basis of the effective design and operation ofthe process. In the present paper, we investigated methyl chlorination which has widecommercially usage and simulated it in a photochemical reactor. Methyl chlorideundergoes successive catalytic chlorinations in liquid phase, under pressure and moderatetemperatures to produce methylene chloride which is one of the most attractive solventsused in industrial applications due to its low toxicity. At first, using the SIMPLEAlgorithm suggested by Patankar, we solved the 3-D Navier-Stokes equation andcalculated the flow field in the reactor. For the calculation of the radiative heat transferequation, which is one of the most important mechanism in a photochemical reactor weadopted the S4 method. And we solved the conservation equation for the chemicalspecies related to the chlorination in the reactor, then with the concentration field wecalculated the reaction rates, which is used later in the energy equation for thetemperature fields. As a result, present algorithm can be applied to the other reactionswhich undergoes in a photochemical reactor. |
