Elastic properties of chalcopyrite structured solids
Elastic properties (i.e. six independent elastic stiffness constants, C-11, C-12, C-13, C-33, C-44 and C-66) of chalcopyrite structured solids were evaluated. Values of C-11, C-33, C-44, C-66, of A(I)B(III)C(2)(VI) and A(II)B(IV)C(2)(V) chalcopyrite semiconductors exhibit a linear relationship when plotted against the k(B)T(m)/Omega(k(B) = Boltzmann's constant, T-m, = melting temperature, Omega = atomic volume) normalization, but fall on two straight lines according to the product of ionic charges of the compounds. The calculated results are compared with available experimental data and previous calculations based on phenomenological models. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
