Evaluation on the combustion characteristics of high moist coal and its drying coal by fluidized bed dryer was performed in the test furnace which has combustion capacity of 100kg/hr of bituminous coal. During the test, several kinds of measurements and monitoring were carried out such as temperature profiles, carbon burnout ratio and emissions according to the each case of coal feeding conditions. As results of these tests, dried coal(high qualified coal) showed better combustion performance than its original coal. Thus undeveloped high moist coal due to its high moisture content and self ignition property like high moist sub-bituminous or lignite coal can be easily and efficiently used as a thermal coal in the power plant if available drying technology supplied in the short future.
