UPDATING HU POUR POINT CORRELATION - A CASE-STUDY OF OPTIMIZATION FOR FUEL-OIL BLENDING
This study aims to update the parameter of Hu pour point blending correlation [1] so to consider the changes in the present fuel oils and hence predict pour point more accurately. The new correlation has been validated by 14 additional data, out of which 13 predictions have been found well within repeatable limits (3-degrees-C). The average absolute error by the updated method compares favorably with existing Hu method for different groups of blends based on seasonal variation of temperatures. A case study on optimization of Furnace fuel oil blending has been presented to illustrate the usefulness of such correlations.
