Research News: Porous silicon layers with controlled structure and well-defined surface chemical composition and the deposition of solid contacts to form electroluminescent devices have recently been reported. The growth and characterization of the layers, several models for the morphology, and the formation processes are discussed, and the use of electrically conductive polymers as the contact materials to porous silicon layers presented.
