HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Research News: The perovskite structure (see Figure) is the basis of all known high-temperature superconducting materials. Many of the most successful (highest T-c) materials are based on mercury and thallium phases but, due to the high toxicity of the component compounds effort has been invested in the substitution of these elements with silver. Progress is reviewed.
