Study of electro-deposited Pt cathode for the efficient dye-sensitized solar cell
We studied electro-deposited Pt cathode for the efficient dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). We prepared Pt counter electrode by applying electric potential to FTO substrate in the H2PtCl6 solution. The island type metal Pt was deposited on the FTO substrate and the size of metal Pt particle was ranged from 10nm to 220nm. We also prepared the Pt cathode by thermal decomposition of H2PtCl6 solution and Pt paste. As a result, we found that the Jsc, FF and efficiency of DSSCs with electro-deposited Pt cathode were much larger than those of DSSCs with thermally formed Pt cathode. We suggest that the electro-deposited Pt cathode have much lower charge transfer resistance and sheet resistance than the thermally formed Pt cathode, resulting in the improvement of the cell efficiency.
