After 30 years of production from the Al-Huwaisah oil field in north Oman, it is still possible to bring good wells on stream. Both vertical and horizontal,technologies are used with various combinations of gas lift or electrical-submersible-pump (ESP) completions in barefoot or lined reservoir sections. The large areal extent of the field requires robust data gathering to manage,subsurface uncertainties. The improved production. was mainly the result of implementing a multidisciplinary-team approach to define a more structured method to identify remaining oil targets and rank them by use of basic petroleum engineering tools in a more synergistic fashion.
