Recent heavy-oil discoveries in ultradeep water have stimulated investment in this type of asset for future revenues, despite uncertainties about technology development for future field exploitation. This paper presents a forecasting model for assessing future technology achievements-necessary for the development of heavy-oil fields in ultradeep water-through logistic utility models.
