Characteristic techniques of XPS, CO chemisorption and TEM demonstrated that MoO_x overlayer formed over Pt and MoO₃ substrates after calcinations. This induces closer contact at adlineation sites between Pt and MoO₃ substrates. It results in supplying the hydrogen access into more MoO₃ particles and controls the kinetics of hydrogen uptake.
