Prediction of Emulsion Morphologies in Three-Phase Emulsions by Interfacial Tension and Wettability
Emulsion morphologies by conductometry of ternary CiEj/n-alkane/water systems have been compared with morphologies predicted by four different models. Models used were "spreding coefficient model (I)", "interfacial tension model (II)", "adhesion model (III)" and "wettability model (IV)". Model I predicts incorrect morphologies of three-phase emulsions. But model II, III, and IV partially coincided with the results obtained from electrical conductivity measurements. It appears model IV is the best, but it should be studied further and refined.
