Kinetics of the Sieving Process - Determination of Sieving Time in Analysis andMulti-DeckSieving
Sieving is one of the oldest technologies for classifying and characterizing particulate systems and is still among the most widely used methods. The quality and efficiency of a sieving process and, thus, of the analytical result is influenced both by process parameters and by product-specific properties of the feed material. When using multi-deck sieving or analytical sieve shakers, the screens participate with different mesh sizes and time-dependent. In this work, various particulate materials were investigated in an analytical sieve shaker. The sieving time was varied and the particle size distribution of each sieve fraction determined for each sieving time. The results are presented exemplarily for the materials limestone and crushed walnut shell.
