Use of tanning waste in seed production
Collagen hydrolyzate from tanning waste was used as a component of coats formed on peat, broad bean and soybean seeds by disc granulation (with fungicide and dolomite addn.) and tested for stability, improved plant growth and increased resistance to drought after seeds were sown into in wet soils under constant climatic conditions (temp. 30 degrees C, humidity 40%). Glutaminic acid, arginine, alanine, proline, leucine, lysine and hydroxyproline were identified in the collagen hydrolyzate. The applicability of the coats was confirmed.
