A new concept of roller-plate mills
Rice grains were disintegrated in a newly constructed roller-plate mill. The crushing efficiency depended on conditions of friction, roller rotation rate and width of the gap between roller and plate. The increase in rotational speed resulted in an increases in the energy consumption, whereas an increase in the gap between the rolls and the plate resulted in a decrease in the unitary energy consumption.
