Empirical Correlations for Prediction of Permeability of Gases Liquids Through Polymers
Empirical correlations have been obtained for the permeability of hydrocarbon gases and alcohols through polymers based on the molecular descriptors. The descriptors used are molecular connectivity, average molecular polarizability acid molecular weight. Good agreement is observed between experimental and predicted values of permeabilty. The major advantage of the present study is that correlation can be obtained based on the descriptors derived solely from the molecular structure of the permeant.
