Cold Spraying for Microstructuring of Component Surfaces
A thermal spray technique for structuring of metallic surfaces with microparticles is presented. Nitrogen together with titanium dioxide microparticles is compressed, heated and sprayed on flat titanium samples via an adjusted de Laval nozzle. Theoretic analysis and CFD simulations show that particles which impact on the surface should be fixed on it permanently by the so-called cold spray effect. The particle adhesion on the surface is quantified by ultrasonic sound experiments.
