Modelling of a turbulent flow using the Herschel-Bulkley rheological model
Turbulent flow of a fine dispersive hydromixture with yield stress occurs frequently in chemical engineering and mineral industry. The paper deals with fully developed, axially symmetrical turbulent flow of fine dispersive hydromixture in a horizontal pipe. The mathematical model consists of the time-averaged Navier-Stokes equation in which turbulent stress tensor was set up by taking into account turbulence model together with modified turbulence damping function. The main aim of the paper is to examine the influence of the Herschel-Bulkley rheological model on numerical prediction of turbulent flow of fine dispersive hydromixture. Numerical prediction were successfully verified with literature experimental data.
