제목 Effect of Hydrophilic/-phobic Functional groups in Ordered Mesoporous Carbons on Lithium Sulfur Batteries’ Performance
초록 Although Lithium-Sulfur Battery (LSB) provide high gravimetric capacity (1675 mAh/g) and theoretical energy density (2600 Wh/kg), it has some problems such as dissolution of active materials in the electrolyte and low electrical conductivity of sulfur. In order to solve these problems, various carbon/sulfur composites using activated carbon, carbon nanotubes and mesoporous carbon have been applied to LSB. Recently, some papers have dealt with the hydrophilic/-phobic carbon materials in order to improve the LSBs’ performance. Herein, we dealt with surface-modified ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) by grafting –SO3H and −Si(CH3)3 groups. First, we synthesized the OMCs through nano-replication method using mesoporous silica SBA-15 as a template. Then, the OMCs were treated with chlorosulfuric acid and hexamethyldisilazane in order to graft -SO3H and −Si(CH3)3 functional groups, respectively. With these samples, we applied these materials for LSB and investigated their properties by X-ray diffraction, N2-sorption isotherms, electron microscopy and standard electrochemical technique.
