Influence of the soaking time on the stretching step for a microporous alumina filled HDPE film |

The effects of the soaking time on the stretching step for a microporous alumina filled high density polyethylene(HDPE) film were investigated. The HDPE and alumina were mixed in the extruder. The alumina filled HDPE resins were melt-extruded and uni-axially drawn by a roller to obtain the precursor films. The alumina filled HDPE films were uni-axially stretched up to 600% in a propylene glycol bath at 100℃ with different soaking times for the formation of the pores. It was found that the pores and the thermal-mechanical properties of the microporous alumina filled HDPE films depended on the soaking time for the stretching step. The porosity and the pore size of the microporous alumina filled HDPE films increased with an increasing soaking time but, the mechanical strength decreased with the soaking time. |
