Nanomaterials are considered as suitable heterogeneous catalysts for many organic reactions. Among the nano-structured oxides, TiO2 has been a focus of extensive research due to its chemical stability, large surface area, non-toxicity, and low production cost. Titania nano tubes showed their potential in many fields, such as photo catalysis, hydrogen sensing, and solar cells. Photocatalysis and dye-sensitized solar cells, particularly eco-friendly use of the electrode material, is of high interest. In this study, the high photocatalytic and dyesensitized solar cells applicable photoactive ZnO-TiO2 nanotubes were synthesized which have high specific surface area. Existing P-25 TiO2 Photocatalytic powder has average BET surface area 56m2 / g but microwave synthesized ZnO-TiO2 nanotubes exhibited the average BET surface area 265m2 / g. system were characterized by TEM, FESEM, XRD, UV-VIS, EDS, XPS, Methylene blue removal test and BET. TiO2 – ZnO composition obtained by this way might be efficient future applicable in dye sensitized solar cell as well as photocatalyst. |
