Analysis of cell type-dependent responses to calcium-phosphate for the confirmation of biocompatibility |

For the development of biomaterials for the use of tissue substitute, it is desirable to confirm that the materials should possess an excellent biocompatibiltiy. Regarding hard tissue substitutes, mostly one of various types such as normal cells, cell-lines or stem cell is used to examine the material biocompatbility. The result obtained from using a single type of cell may not provide comprehensive understanding on the biocompatbility of the material. In this study, we examined the cellular responses to the calcium phosphate using three different type of cells, including stem cell and cell-lines. Cell assays displayed that cell proliferation appeared to be similar but differential behavior was dependent on cell type. Results indicated that the proper cell type for the examination of the cell responses to calcium phosphate. |
