A series of small molecules based on Quinoxaline and Thienothiophene (TT) or bi-thiophene (bi-T) were designed and synthesized by Stille coupling reaction for use in small molecule solar cells. All small molecules showed good thermal stability with 5% weight loss temperature over 318℃. Absorption spectra of small molecules in film state show the bathochromic shift (about 28 nm ~ 72 nm at maximum peak) compared to in solution. And there is special point of this series. Thienothiophene substituted small molecules showed more red-shifted λmax (475, 495 nm in solution, 516, 538 nm in film state) than bi-thiophene containing small molecules (469, 479 nm in solution, 505,518 nm in film state). A Electrochemical bandgap (Egec) of the small molecules displayed its figure in the range of 2.26 ~2.49 eV. Consequentially, PCE of small molecules was achieved 0 ~ 0.13%. |
