The surface modification is one of the most reported technologies for the preparation of high-performance filtration membranes because it can be used in existing/commercial membranes. Although surface modification using polyphenol materials has been attracted in past decades due to its simplicity and modification efficiency, there is still no report for imparting multi-functional properties into the surfaces. Herein, we report the surface modification of filtration membranes using one-step coordination coating where tannic acid (TA) and iron (Fe) form the complex structures on the surfaces. The membrane modified by TA-Fe assembly exhibits the multi-functional ability, such as anti-protein fouling, anti-oil fouling, inhibition of biofilm formation, antibacterial property, and heavy metal removal. With these multi-functional properties, fast one-step modification and low cost of natural plant-induced TA are also the advantages of TA-Fe assembly modification. |
