There is much research on carbon capture and utilization (CCU). Currently, promising CCU products for many CCU responses are being analyzed and evaluated. However, in many cases, promising CCU products are ranked by chemical reaction volume and market size. Accurate evaluation is possible by considering the reaction, such as conversion rate, yield, and separation. To analyze this, process simulation is required. This study proposes a new index (Sustainable feasibility index, SFI) that integrates techno-economic and environmental evaluation indicators. As a case study, process modeling is performed for formic acid, acetic acid, dimethyl carbonate, ethylene oxide, formaldehyde, oxalic acid, methanol, and urea, evaluated as promising CCU candidates, and techno-economic assessment, life cycle assessment are performed. |
