Characterization of Gelatin Adsorption Behavior on Poly(-caprolactone) microsphere |

We studied physical immobilization of gelatin molecules on the surface of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) microsphere. Since both PCL and gelatin possess high biocompatibility, we can expect a synergistic improvement from the combination of these two compounds. Adsorption experiments were performed in order to analyze changes in surface properties of PCL microsphere dependent of gelatin concentration or adsorption time by using zeta potential. Specific surface area of PCL microsphere was determined from BET measurement. Adsorbed mass of gelatin was determined using protein assay. FTIR spectral analysis was performed in order to examine the secondary structural changes in gelatin upon adsorption. Stability of gelatin-PCL complex was analyzed using DSC. Surface morphology was examined by taking SEM micrographs. |
