Hollow mesoporous carbon (HMC) nanoparticles with nanometer-sized pores and large surface area are prepared based on the monodisperse nanocolloid template of a silica-core with mesoporous silica shell. The average diameter of these HMCs is in the size range of 100-200 nm and the average pore diameter of mesopores located within the hollow shell was 4-5 nm. To synthesize HMCs, a carbon precursor was added to the monodisperse nanocolloid template and then heat-treated for further polymerization. The carbonization of the polymerized species within the nanocolloid template to convert into hollow carboneous nanoparticles was achieved by calcination at high temperature. The remaining silica core was etched with sodium hydroxide solution. The structure, morphology and electrochemical properties of carbon materials are characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, raman spectrum, TGA, CV and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. |
