제목 | Adsorption kinetics of boron from seawater using chelating resin |
초록 | Boron is widely distributed in the environment, occurring naturally (seawater) or from anthropogenic pollution, mainly under the form of boric acid (H3BO3) or borate salts (NaBO2, Na2B4O7·10H2O). Although it is an important micronutrient for plants, animals and humans, the range between deficiency and excess is narrow. For boron removal from aqueous solution and seawater, several methods have been suggested. Among those methods, the ion exchange processes in which N-glucamine-type chelating resins have been used are the most extensively studied and reported in the literatures. Therefore, chelating resins containing functional groups for boron removal and recovery from natural waters and wastewaters were developed a capacity, selectivity and sorption rate of them. Processes for them were universally applicable at batch or continuous flow reactor, as a fiber or bead type. In the present study, thus, the removal of boron by ion exchange resins in a packed column were investigated, for the application to treat the boron component in the seawater. An ion exchange resins used, Amberlite IRA 743, is available, which is supposed to be highly selective for the removal of borate and boric acid. |
