Poly-(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) hydrogel has been used for drug delivery systems based on its temperature-sensitive properties, whose phase separation temperature is similar to the body temperature. However, because PNIPAM is relatively hydrophilic, it is hard to uniformly load hydrophobic drugs in its networks. To overcome this limitation, alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) and gold nanoparticles stabilized by ALA was incorporated into PNIPAM. Hydrophobic ALA has a disulfide group stabilizing gold nanoparticles and self-polymerizing ALA into poly [3-(n-butane carboxylic acid)propyl]disulfide (PL). Gold nanoparticles (Au) was introduced for stabilizing the crosslinks of PL networks. In this study, the physical properties of novel synthesized PNIPAM/PL and PNIPAM/PL/Au were characterized by TEM and Rheometer. Temperature dependence of shear storage moduli G’ of PNIPAM, PNIPAM/PL, and PNIPAM/PL/Au showed a transition temperature. |
