There is an increasing demand in the flexible electronics industry for highly robust flexible/transparent conductors that can withstand high temperatures and corrosive environments. In this work, outstanding thermal and ambient stability is demonstrated for a highly transparent Ag nanowire electrode, by encapsulating it with an ultra-thin Al2O3 film via low-temperature atomic layer deposition. The detailed characterization results of the Al2O3/Ag nanowire electrode will be presented, especially focusing on its thermal, ambient, and mechanical stabilities. It is revealed that the Al2O3/Ag nanowire electrode is able to withstand high temperatures up to 380 ºC and is stable against oxidation for more than 1,000 h in humid air. In addition, the Al2O3/Ag nanowire electrode was also mechanically robust and stable under severe bending fatigue tests and wiping tests using IPA, which demonstrates its applicability in flexible electronics experiencing harsh fabrication or operation conditions. |
