제목 A Study on Damage Sensing and Interfacial Evaluation in Carbon Nanocomposites by Measurement of Electrical Resistance and Acoustic Emission
초록 Microfailure detection and interfacial properties of carbon nanocomposites were evaluated by the measurement of electrical resistance combined with acoustic emission (AE). Hybrid nanocomposite was composed of carbon fiber, carbon nanotube and epoxy resin. It was very difficult to observe the nano-scaled fracture mechanisms of nanocomposite under a routine micro-approach. In this work, electrical resistance measurement was tried to investigate nondestructive evaluation for carbon nanocomposite. The changes in electrical resistance and AE signals were occurred by the carbon fiber breakage and then the obtained results in both techniques were correlated to each other. Electrical response depending on the size and structure of nano-scale reinforcement was much different from micro-scale results. It might be due to the inherent electrical characteristics. Electrical resistance measurement and AE can be useful methods to investigate interfacial properties, damage sensing in carbon nanocomposite as well as conductive microcomposites.
