Solubilization of Insoluble Drugs with the Triblock Copolymer |

Micellization of poly(oxyethylene-oxypropylene-oxyethylene) triblock copolymers in aqueous solutions was studied, and solubilization mechanisms between polymer and poorly water soluble drugs were characterized. Polymeric micelles were prepared by the simple dialysis methods against various solvents and critical micelle concentrations(cmc) were determined using iodine/iodide mixture and fluorescent probes (pyrene). Particle size distributions were determined by dynamic light scattering(DLS) method and the morphology of polymeric micelles were spherical shapes as observed from transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Drug loading capacity was calculated by the analysis based on HPLC data and the physical changes of model drugs in micelle cores were determined by small angle x-ray scattering(SAXS) pattern. This study proposes a potential transdermal delivery methods of poorly water soluble drugs in cosmetic fields.
