Conducting polymer (CP), such as polypyrrole (PPy) has been investigated intensively because of its response to electrical stimulation with a change in shape or size. In this study, the construction of CP actuator based on PPy (with carbon black and carbon nano fiber) nanocomposite film electrodes and a solid polymer electrolyte (SPE), polyurethane/Mg(ClO4)2, was accomplished. Nanocomposite film was electrochemically polymerized from aqueous dispersions of pyrrole monomer containing carbon black and carbon nano fiber. Polyurethanes as a matrix of SPE were synthesized using a two-step method based on PTMG, MDI, and 1,4-BD. SPEs with various Mg(ClO4)2 contents were prepared by solution casting. Nanocomposite gave good electrical contact over the entire actuator. Also, it was confirmed the feasibility of electrochemical properties for the CP actuator based on PPy nanocomposite and SPE film able to work in air. |
