The efforts to learn and take inspiration from nature have proven successful in a wide range of areas. The micro channels in the tree frog’s adhesion system have been studied with the enhancement of adhesion forces on the wet or rough surfaces. Here, we report that a tree frog-inspired subsurface micro-channels having patch can be exploited to form reversibly enhanced adhesion in wet condition on highly curved substrates. Here, the biocompatible microchannel using skin patches were fabricated with a simple molding technique. We measured adhesion forces in various conditions by changing structures of channels and spacing gap between channels. In addition, adhesion forces of various micro-channel using patches were measured under dry, water conditions. In our measurements, microscale channels play a key role to increase adhesion and inhibit crack propagation on various complicated skin surfaces. We present unique applications for integrated skin patches and skin-attachable electronics |
