Poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) is currently getting a great attention as a thermoplastic biodegradable polymers since it is not only synthesized from carbon dioxide and propylene oxide, but also has been proved to be a biodegradable polymers. However, PPC has some limitations such as poorer mechanical properties and low thermal stability, which hinders its wider application. In this work, the Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA)/Poly(butylene succinate)(PBS)/PPC ternary blends with various compositions were prepared by melt blending process to evaluate their potential application in packaging field. The processing properties of the blends were monitored, and the thermal, thermo-mechanical, barrier (oxygen and water vapor) and morphological properties were characterized to assess balanced properties of the ternary blend system. |
