In this study, we fabricated hybrid membranes of 6FDA based polyimide and silica particles. The dispersion of inorganic particles is important to the hybrid membrane because inorganic particle induced transport property change was significant in the gas membrane. In order to enhance dispersion, the hydrophilic silica was changed hydrophobic by surface treatment using 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate(Γ-MPS). And then, silica particles were grafted with PMMA which is miscible with 6FDA based polyimide. PMMA-g-silica is more dispersed than pure silica in the polymer matrix. The permeability coefficients and selectivity of PMMA-g-silica/6FDA based polyimide nanocomposite membrane were changed as silica content. We expected that the untreated silica/6FDA based polyimide membrane showed greater permeability and less selectivity than PMMA grafted silica/6FDA because of its low dispersion. |
