Small molecules offer many advantages over polymeric materials in terms of ease of synthesis and purification, and a greater tendency to self-assemble into ordered domain, which leads to high fabrication reproducibility and high charge carrier mobility. These considerations make small molecules a promising candidate for donor material of organic solar cells. Among these materials, zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) is a promising donor material owing to its high absorption coefficient, high hole mobility, and excellent chemical and thermal stability. Due to the low solubility of ZnPc molecules, however, most of small-molecule solar cells are fabricated by vacuum deposition, which are far from the low cost fabrication. In this study, we synthesized the solution processible ZnPc dyes by introducing solubilizing groups into ZnPc for fabrication of low cost and high efficient organic solar cells. |
