Polyaniline (PANI) based on Multi wall carbon nanotubes treated with acid (c-MWNT) was synthesized through the inverse emulsion polymerization. Considerable interaction existed between PANI molecules and surfaces of MWCNTs. On FT-IR spectra, the peak intensity of N-H bond vibration at 3450 cm-1 decreased, and this supports the existence of hydrogen bonding between amine group of PANI and carboxylic acid group of c-MWCNT. The PANI/c-MWCNT composites exhibited higher electric conductivity compared to the pristine PANI doped with DBSA. The XRD patterns of the powder represented that the existence of c-MWNT had an effect on the formation of high ordered structure near the nanotubes. However, the fact that there was no doping effect of carboxylic acid group of c-MWCNT on PANI was confirmed using UV-vis spectra. These result supported the carboxy modification of MWNT and the physical interaction between PANI and c-MWCNT. |
