This study introduces a facile method to modify various inorganic surfaces using metal-catechol coordination. Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) synthesized via reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization is successfully grafted to the surface of nanopores. The surface wettability of nanopores is regulated by temperature. Thermosensitive surface wettability controls the diffusion of macromolecules without physical pore blocking. We also report on catechol-grafted dextran, which strongly binds to titania in an aqueous milieu for potential cosmetic applications. |
