Photocatalysis has been proved an effective and sustainable technology for the removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from water. In recent year, TiO2 is considered the most promising photocatalytic material. These applications, particularly for wastewater treatment, are generally studied using catalysis in fine powdered form, which are cumbersome to recover and reuse. To overcome these problems, many efforts have been devoted to immobilizing TiO2 nanoparticles on variety of substrates. Fly ash cenospheres has very low density. The ligthweight TiO2 coated cenosphere particles allow them to float on water, thus simplifying their separation process. In this study, we prepared TiO2-coated cenosphere and all samples were applied to photocatalytic decomposition of methyl orange. TiO2-coated cenopheres were characterized using XRD, SEM, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. |
