The catechol functional group of dopamine (3, 4-dihydroxyphenethylamine) has characteristics of strong coordination with inorganic and organic materials in aqueous system. And, the most common approach to provide nonfouling surfaces is through the immobilization of poly(ethylene glycol), so called PEGylation. In this research, the adhesive polyaspartamides containing catechol and methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) pendant groups were synthesized from polysuccinimide through aminolysis reactions. The adhesion & crosslinking of dopamine-MPEG-modified polyaspartamide in pH controlled aqueous media (pH 8.5) was successfully applied to modify glass (and PET film) surface using a dip-coating method. The coated substrates were analyzed by contact angle, α-step, SEM & EDS, XPS, AFM analysis. |
