In this study, we report the overview of electrochemical properties about sulfonated poly(fluorenyl ether) ionomers containing fluorinated moieties(PFCB). PFCB-containing polymers were synthesized and sulfonated using chlorosulfonic acid(CSA) and then cast into membranes for fuel cell applications. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 19F-NMR, and TGA. The resulting sulfonated polymers showed various degree of sulfonation (SD) and ion exchange capacity (IEC) according to content of sulfonation agent in polymers. As a result, the sulfonated polymers showed good electrochemical properties with the increase of CSA content, SD, IEC, water uptake compared with those of Nafion-115. |
