Multifunctinal magnetic conducting polymer nanocomposite for theragnostic agent of metastatic cancer cells |

Theragnosis has been engaged as progressive strategy for advanced cancer therapy. In particular, photothermal therapy (PTT) using conducting polymer that was absorbing near-infrared (NIR) light has been spotlighted because target cancer cells can be killed by the caused extensive heats. Recently, our group reported that polyaniline (PAni) could be used to the photothermal agent for cancer cells. We thus suggested the well-tailored multifunctional conducting polymer nanocomplex, composing of PAni and magnetic nanoparticle, namely magnetic PAni nanocomposite (MPNC), for PTT and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Estimate targeted photothermal ablation and imaging potentials of the MPNC, tumor bearing xenograft mouse model was established and MPNC was intravenously injected. In conclusion, the MPNC could bind to target metastatic cancer cells and effectively kill the target cells by irradiation of NIR light. Furthermore, tumor site treated with MPNC could be monitored by MR imaging. |
