Fabrication of Cu2ZnSnS4 thin film solar cell by sol-gel method |

Cu2ZnSnS4(CZTS) is one of the most interesting materials for an absorber layer of low-priced thin film solar cells. The properties for an absorber layer for photovoltaic applications require a direct band gap of about ~1.5eV and an optical absorption coefficient of over 104cm-1. In this work, CZTS for the absorber layer in solar cell was prepared by sol-gel spin coating method. The source materials of the sol-gel solutions were copper (II) chloride dihydrate, zinc chloride, tin (II) chloride, and thiourea. The spin coating process was used to deposit CZTS sol-gel on substrate and the CZTS thin films were annealed at various conditions. The sulfurization process of the annealed CZTS thin films was carried out at 550 oC for 30min. According to the annealing temperature, the morphology, chemical composition, and crystal structure of the absorber layer were studied by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction. |
