Large-scale synthesis and thermoelectric properties of Sb2Q3 (Q=S, Se) nanofibers |

Sb2Q3 (Q = S, Se) compounds are promising for thermoelectric and photovoltaic applications. Though stabilizing them in a nanoscale has been widely studied, their synthesis in a large scale is still challenging. In this work, we report a new facile method to synthesize single crystalline Sb2Q3 nanowires in a large scale with band gap tunability. Sb2Q3 nanowires are solvothermally obtained by topotactic conversion from ternary metal chalcogenide compound of K2Sb8Q13. K2Sb8Q13 can be readily prepared by a torch-flame reaction giving tens of gram scale. Then, K2Sb8Q13, conceptually [K2Se][Sb2Q3]4, are topotactically converted to Sb2Q3 nanowires. This new process also enables facile synthesis of solid solution of Sb2S3-xSey nanowires with band gap tunability. The thickness of nanowires is controllable by reaction condition. Sb2Q3 nanowires exhibit enhanced thermoelectric properties compared to the bulk counterparts. |
