The LLDPE/zeolite composite using a novel inorganic filler having a porous structure, zeolite.is prepared by a conventional compounding procedure using a twin-screw extruder. The observed SEM morphology shows a good dispersion and adhesion of zeolite in the LLDPE matrix. The mechanical properties of filled systems are improved in terms of the Young’s Modulus and the yield stress, but the elongation at break is reduced by a successive increment of filler content. The complex melt viscosity of the composites sequentially increases with the amount of zeolite loading. Upon applying a certain level of strain on the composites, dewetting, air hole formation and its growth are investigated. The dewetting takes place around the filler particles at low strain and induces elliptical micropores upon further stretching. The porosity in the film can be controlled by the zeolite content and by the level of applied strain. Noticeable air hole formation of the studied system can be applicable in the field of sports wears, baby diaper, and other hygienic wears. |
