제목 Two- and three-dimensional simulation of pore evolution during solid-state sintering with a diffusion-controlled Monte Carlo model
초록 A Monte Carlo Potts Model that simulates the evolution of the pores during the late stage of sintering process is proposed. Final stage of solid-state sintering starts with the breakage of continuous pore channels and continues until most isolated pores are eliminated by mass transport in a process called densification. The proposed model incorporates the control over various diffusion paths for matter transport and accurately reproduces pore evolution kinetics during final stage sintering. As the first test case, 2D binary crystals with various dimensions in which a periodic array of pores lie on the grain boundary were sintered. It was found that the model reproduced previously reported theoretical and simulation results. As the second test case, 3D binary crystals with columns of pores lying on the grain boundary were sintered. Then the resultant microstructure was compared to and verified with the experimental result of a previous study performed with copper wires.
