In this work, polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers were prepared by electrospinning fabrication and carbonization for carbon fibers at rigorous temperature condition of 1000 oC, then, the carbon fibers were activated by KOH. Surface properties of the activated PAN based carbon fibers (APCFs) were carried out using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The specific surface areas and pore size distributions were calculated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation and non-local density functional theory (NLDFT) using N2/77 K adsorption isotherms respectively. Electrochemical behaviors were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in a three-electrode system. The results indicated that surface characteristics and porosities played an important role in the capacitance of the APCFs electrode. |
