제목 Tuning the hydrophobicity of a hydrogel by self-organization of polymer cross-linkers
초록 The hydrogel has been studied for various applications including controlled drug delivery, tissue engineering, micro-scale actuators and microfluidic flow control. This study presents an advanced biomaterial design strategy to introduce the hydrophobic microenvironments in a hydrogel. We hypothesized that self-organization of polymers in a pre-polymer solution would allow us to control the mechanical properties and hydrophobicity of a hydrogel and thus improve the structural integrity of a hydrogel. Self-organization between polymer cross-linkers of varying molecular weight was examined to understand the mechanism by which hydrophobic polymers would be introduced in a hydrogel.
