Improvement of Power Conversion Efficiency of P3HT/CdSe Hybrid Solar Cells by Enhanced Interconncetion of CdSe nanorods via Decomposable Selenourea |

We introduce a new method to improve device performance of P3HT/CdSe hybrid solar cells by using selenourea treatment for the ligand exchange in P3HT/CdSe solution. Hybrid P3HT/CdSe blends were prepared by mixing two solutions (one is P3HT/CdSe in mixed solvents of dichlorobenzene and pyridine, and the other is selenourea in pyridine). This changes the dispersion of CdSe nanorods in P3HT phases depending on selenourea concentration. After selenoura exchange, selenourea at the surface of CdSe nanorods was decomposed into selenide during thermal annealing, we found that the charge transport was enhanced by the efficient charge hopping through interconnected CdSe nanorods without severe aggregations. For the solar cell prepared in this study, the short-circuit current density was increased from 5.0 mA cm-2 to 8.4 mA cm-2 compared with another solar cell without selenourea treatment; thus, the power conversion efficiency of the device was improved from 1.71% to 2.63%. |
